News
On June 7th, all of the alpacas were shorn except Sir Hershey.  Mickey and Chris did a wonderful job shearing and trimming up our herd.  Everyone looks very sharp and photos from the event will be posted soon.  We would like to thank everyone who came to help hold and move around animals.  We had a great day despite the heat!
SUCCESSFUL SHEARING
THIS SUMMER'S LITTLE ONES!
New Fiber Group in Central New York
Centered in our small community is the Plum Valley Artisans and Shepherds.  We are a group of breeders/shepherds of alpacas, sheep, goats, and rabbits.  In addition, we are also spinners of the raw fibers or weavers, knitters, or crocheters, using the fleeces to make end products for sale.  We meet the second Wednesday of every month generally at the Chenango Coffee Roasters in South Otselic, NY.

LONE SPRUCE ALPACAS 2008 OPEN HOUSE
September 27th and 28th - 10AM-3PM
Tornado Sporting his Fresh New Look
Summer is over, but we have had a good one!  We had a successful cria season with 4 healthy females and 1 healthy male added to the herd.  22 alpacas now grace the Lone Spruce pastures.  To keep ahead of the growing herd, a very large new pasture has been created on the North side of the herdsire's barn. The pasture was smoothed, rocks picked, and orchard grass sown.  The fencing has begun with hopes of completing the perimeter prior to winter.  One thing leads to another, right?  Next summer, the pasture will be subdivided as needed.  Yikes, more fencing! (and the need for another building?)  If that is necessary, it will be done.  We love our alpacas and want to take excellent care of them.

As Fall sets in, we look forward to this time of the year!  The days are getting shorter, cooler, and the leaves are beginning to change their color.  Here in the Northeast, we are privileged with living in an area with many maple trees.  Very soon we will be surrounded with yellow, orange, and red hillsides!  Vermonters have no edge on us for Fall foliage!  This time of the year the beauty of Central New York is unsurpassed, making it a perfect time for you to plan your trip to visit us and see the alpacas.
